SUBJECT: 3-Axle Truck Tractor Bid, B1100012
COLORADO
The Public Works Department recommends rejecting the two lowest bids from Volvo of Denver and
Transwest Trucks for not meeting specs and awarding the bid to the third lowest bidder, MHC
Kenworth. The lowest bid from Volvo of Denver did not meet engine or torque specs. The second
low bid from Transwest Trucks did not meet spec because the bid did not include an "ultrashift"
transmission. If we are able to take advantage of the "prompt payment discount" offered by MHC
Kenworth then Transwest would actually be a higher cost.
The cost for one 3-Axle Truck Tractor is $119,555 with Option 1 (Battery Kill Switch) which is
$162.00 for a grand total of$119,717.00.
There is $135,000 budgeted for this purchase. If you have any questions, please call me at
