RE: RATIFICATION OF APPOINTMENT TO THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR HIGH PLAINS
LIBRARY DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS,the High Plains Library District has been created by action of six municipalities,
Weld County School District RE-8, and the County of Weld, all of the State of Colorado, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 24-90-110(4)(a), C.R.S., the selection committee for the
High Plains Library District Board of Trustees has been appointed and has recommended that John
Cordova be appointed to the High Plains Library District Board of Trustees, to replace Nomie
Ketterling, with a term to expire December 31, 2014, and
WHEREAS, said individual appears to be qualified to serve as a member of the Board of
Trustees and represent adequately the various interests within the High Plains Library District.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the appointment of John Cordova,to the High Plains Library District Board of
Trustees, with a term to expire December 31, 2014, be, and hereby is, ratified.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 18th day of January A.D., 2010.

Dear Commissioner Garcia:
In accordance with the state law, a Nominating Committee composed of one member from each creating
jurisdiction must select library district board members; and then each jurisdiction must ratify the
selection by resolution. This year John Cordova of Pierce was nominated to represent Area 5: Ault,
Eaton, Pierce and Nunn. John Cordova is to serve a five-year term on the High Plains Library District
Board of Trustees. He will be taking the seat vacated by Nomie Ketterling who came on the board to fill
a vacated spot in 1997 and has completed 2 five-year terms as of December 31, 2009.
Since it is necessary for all member jurisdictions to ratify the nomination of the committee, a sample
resolution is provided. You are encouraged to consider the resolution as soon as possible so the Library
District is not without full representation on the Board. A copy of your resolution should be sent to me
at the High Plains Library District, 1939 61S1 Avenue, Greeley, CO, 80634, once acted upon by your
Board. Any governmental unit which does not respond to the request to ratify within sixty(60) days is
deemed to have assented to the appointment of the nominee.
