RE: ACTION OF BOARD CONCERNING WAIVER OF TEN-DAY WAITING PERIOD FOR
CONSIDERATION AND INVESTIGATION OF THE 2010 CHEMICAL HERBICIDES BID -
DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC WORKS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Department of Purchasing has requested waiver of the ten-day waiting
period for the 2010 Chemical Herbicides Bid for the Department of Public Works, Bid Request
No. B1000082, due to the short spraying season, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners deems it advisable to waive the ten-day
waiting period for said bid.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the ten-day waiting period for the 2010 Chemical Herbicides Bid, Bid
Request No. B1000082, for the Department of Public Works, be, and hereby is, waived.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board that the low bid from each of the following
companies: Helena Chemical, in the amount of$396.80;Agrium Advanced Technologies(AAT), in
the amount of $20,454.81; Van Diest, in the amount of $96.90; Estes, Inc., in the amount of
$4,070.10; Frontier Fertilizer, in the amount of $14,925.00; and Arkansas Valley Seed/WinField
Solutions, in the amount of$4,787.20, be, and hereby is, accepted.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 15th day of March, A.D., 2010.

COLORADO SUBJECT: Chemical Purchases for Public Works Department/
Weed and Pest Division -#B1000082
The Weld County Public Works Department/Weed and Pest Division requested bids for herbicides for the 2010 spray season
through MAPO (Municipal Assembly for Procurement Officials). The bids have been received and the low bidder, that meets
County specifications, has been identified for each item.
I recommend we purchase chemicals from the following vendors. All chemicals are low bid except for the Bark Oil Blue.

**CPS-Timberland as quoted on the MAPO bid would require us to deal with a sales representative from Montana and have product shipped
here from Fort Morgan or Spearfish,SD.Agrium Advanced Technologies allows us to use a local representative in Greeley and receive our
product from the Greeley distribution system. Agrium Advanced Technologies and CPS-Timberland are both under the same parent
company.

**Bark Oil Blue bid: Low bid was for Impel Red at 9.27/gal.There is a difference of$4.20 between the two bids.When we used Impel Red
previously it plugged our sprayers and was difficult to keep mixed. It does not mix with water,therefore it is impossible to triple rinse and clean
the jugs and hand can sprayers for re-use and compliance with the state law. .
