HomeMy WebLinkAbout20101120.tiff RESOLUTION RE: APPROVE REVISION TO OPERATIONS MANUAL, SECTION 5.000, GENERAL ASSISTANCE POLICIES AND PROCEDURES WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with a revision to Section 5.000, General Assistance Policies and Procedures, for the Weld County Department of Human Services Operations Manual, and WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve said revision, a copy of which is attached hereto and incorporated herein by reference. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the revision to Section 5.000, General Assistance Policies and Procedures, for the Weld County Department of Human Services Operations Manual be, and hereby is, approved. The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 26th day of May, A.D., 2010. Griego, Director, Human Services Department COLORADO RE: Revision to Section 5.001, Funeral, Burial and Cremation Assistance, Weld County Department of Human Services Operations Manual Enclosed for Board approval is a Revision to Section 5.001, Funeral, Burial and Cremation Assistance, Weld County Department of Human Services Operations Manual. This Revision was reviewed at the Board's May 10, 2010, Work Session. The revision to the Manual sets the reimbursement for funeral, burial and cremation assistance at $1,500.00 for deceased over 60 years of age, $1,000.00 for deceased ages Birth through 59 and $750.00 for stillborn babies. Funeral, Burial and Cremation Assistance: Households or individuals who are indigent and lack sufficient funds for burial may qualify for this assistance. Relatives make applications. Funeral, burial and cremation assistance is further defined in Section 5.030. 5.030 Funeral, Burial and Cremation Assistance Added 6/10 Funeral, Burial and Cremation Assistance policies and procedures are set forth in Colorado State Department of Human Services regulations Volume III with the exception of policies and procedures listed in this section. 5.030.1 Eligibility Requirements Added 6/10 All funeral, burial and cremation applicants will be considered for federal and state assistance before being considered for General Assistance. Verification must be provided for all eligibility requirements. 5.030.11 Resource Guidelines Added 6/10 The resource guideline is based on household size. For an adult household of two, the resource limit is $3,000. For an adult household of one, the resource limit is $2,000. For an adult household of two, when one of the adult household members are deceased and assistance is requested for that adult household member, the household will be treated as a household of one for the resource guidelines. The Department will verify with the Office of Funeral Home and Crematory Registration that a provider is licensed before approving eligibility. 5.030.21 Provider Reimbursement Rates Added 5/10 Providers will be reimbursed up to the following rates: a. $1,500 for deceased over 60 years of age b. $1,000 for deceased ages Birth-59 c. $750 for stillborn babies Hello
