Subject: Issue of Trespass on High Plains Library District lands
Dear Director Reid:
The Department of Planning Services was contacted by a concerned citizen residing in the Meadow Vale Farm
PUD, aka Meadowvale Cove, located east of and adjacent to County Road 5.5 and North of and adjacent to State
Highway 119 near Longmont. In 2001 Katherine Oliver of Longmont provided a gift of land described as Tract 2 and
Open Space B of Meadow Vale Farm PUD, Third Filing to the predecessor of High Plains Library District, Weld
Library District, having a mailing address of 2227 23rd Avenue, Greeley, Colorado.
The concern raised addresses the use of your property to access a private lake for this development. In the near
recent past, persons not associated with this development have crossed lands owned by High Plains to access the
lake for fishing, walking the privately maintained perimeter trail and utilizing the lake as an impromptu ice skating
venue.
The HOA contacted the County seeking assistance in the posting of signs identifying the property as under private
ownership. To assist the Meadowvale Cove in protecting their interests, including potential liability of non-residents
utilizing the lake and shoreline, the Department of Planning Services is seeking your assistance by posting signs
similar to"No Trespassing — Private Property".
For reference, staff is enclosing an aerial photograph of the property in question and a copy of the May 2001
Warranty Deed identifying your interest in the property. Should you have additional questions or require clarification
on any of the points presented herein, please contact this office. Thank you for your assistance in this request.
