RE: ITEMIZED LIST OF LEGAL HOLIDAYS DURING CALENDAR YEAR 2011
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, following is a list of holidays proposed for 2011 as days off for Weld County
employees:
New Year's Day (2011) Falls on Saturday, so day off is Friday,
December 31, 2010
Washington/Lincoln Day Monday, February 21, 2011
Memorial Day Monday, May 30, 2011
Independence Day Monday, July 4, 2011
Tuesday, July 5, 2011
(replaces Colorado Day)
Labor Day Monday, September 5, 2011
Veterans Day Friday, November 11, 2011
Thanksgiving Thursday, November 24, 2011,
Friday, November 25, 2011
(replaces King's Birthday)
Christmas Friday, December 23, 2011
(replaces Columbus Day)
Falls on Sunday, so day off is Monday,
December 26, 2011
New Year's Day (2012) Falls on Sunday, so day off is Monday,
January 2, 2012
FLOATING HOLIDAYS:
Sheriffs Department (Court Personnel) -- Will follow holiday schedule as set by State of
Colorado.
District Attorney -- Tuesday, July 5, 2011 (replaces Colorado Day);
Friday, November 25, 2011 (replaces King's Birthday); and
Friday, December 23, 2011 (replaces Columbus Day)

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the list of holidays as set forth above shall be observed during the
calendar year of 2011 as days off for Weld County employees.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted
by the following vote on the 30th day of August, A.D., 2010.

COLORADO SUBJECT: 2011 County Holidays
Attached is the proposed schedule of holidays for calendar year 2011, as well as the rules for
choosing the appropriate days. Most of the days are pretty straight forward; however, because
several of the holidays fall on the weekend, one of the floating holidays result in a date that may
seem somewhat extended from the actual holiday. I request your approval of allowing the use of
Columbus Day on Friday, Dec. 23, 2010, to address this. (Please Note: Because New Years Day
falls on a weekend, the employee holiday will actually occur in calendar year 2010, resulting in
only 10 employee holidays in calendar year 2011.)
Please let me know your preference concerning the use of Columbus Day on Friday, December 23,
2010, or if you have any recommended changes.
