Attached you will find Greeley City Council Resolution No. 2, 2010, expressing support for the creation of
the U.S. Highway 85 Coalition adopted by the City Council on January 5, 2010.
It is with pleasure and anticipation that Councilmember Donna Sapienza and I serve as liaisons to this
Coalition, with Councilmember Sapienza being the primary member. Please copy both of us on meeting
notices and other information related to service on the Coalition.

RESOLUTION 02 ,2010
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF GREELEY,COLORADO
EXPRESSING ITS SUPPORT FOR THE CREATION OF THE U.S.HIGHWAY 85
COALITION
WHEREAS,the City Council of the City of Greeley, Colorado,recognizes and values the U.S.
Highway 85 corridor as a regional economic development center and the backbone of northern
Colorado;and
WHEREAS,the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County has enacted a resolution
supporting this cooperative effort and the formation of the U.S. Highway 85 Coalition(the
"Coalition"); and
WHEREAS, the Council has a desire to work with municipalities and other municipalities and
counties to address issues of safety and transportation; and
WHEREAS,the Council desires to send a strong message to our elected officials and state and
federal agencies that U.S. Highway 85 is important to the long-term health and wealth of the region;
and
WHEREAS, in order to qualify for funding to improve safety, access, signalization,frontage
roads, economic development opportunities, long range planning and other efforts along the U.S.
Highway 85 corridor,the Coalition will need to advocate for funding and assist local entities to apply
for grants; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interests of the citizens of Greeley and the region to have a
coalition to represent the U.S. Highway 85 corridor.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
GREELEY, COLORADO:
Section 1. Full support and encouragement is hereby given to the U.S. Highway 85
Coalition and the City Council pledges to have two members and staff support available for
meetings.
Section 2. The Council pledges to consider matching funds for grants as a part of the
budget process.
Section 3. This resolution shall become effective immediately upon passage.
PASSED AND ADOPTED, SIGNED AND APPROVED THIS 5th day of January, 2010.
