RE: RECOGNITION OF MARK MAGNUSON AND LINDA CRESPIN, WELD COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES INVESTIGATORS
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, at the Colorado Child Welfare Conference in May, 2010, two investigators
of the Weld County Department of Human Services were recognized for their exceptional work:
• Mark Magnuson, Lead Investigator, received the prestigious Colorado Welfare Fraud
Council 2010 Ted Cole Memorial Award. This statewide award is given to the individual
who sets high standards in the prevention, detection, and investigation of welfare fraud.
Mark's dedication to the Colorado Welfare Fraud Council as President Elect, last year,
and his integrity and excellence in leading the organization were the major reasons for
his recognition. Mark is also a top notch Investigator in Weld County, constantly working
toward better tools and processes in the fraud detection and investigation areas not just
for Weld County, but Statewide. His unit established recoveries of $842,805.86 when
fraud was determined. These established recoveries will result in future savings of
$443,375.00.
• Linda Crespin, Investigator, has excelled working Child Care Fraud Cases. In 2009, she
filed 16 felony cases with the 19th Judicial District Court. Claims in Low Income Child
Care were completed in the amount of $146,222.41. Claims for all other programs were
completed in the amount of $148,281.21. Combined claims established due to Linda's
outstanding work has been determined to be $294,503.62. It is because of her
outstanding contributions to Public Assistance program integrity that Linda is the 2009
Investigator of the Year, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners is proud of the accomplishments of
Mr. Magnuson and Ms. Crespin and of their recent awards, and the Board wishes to recognize
their good work through this Resolution.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the Board is proud of the accomplishments of Lead Investigator
Mark Magnuson and Investigator Linda Crespin and of their recent awards from the Colorado
Child Welfare Council, and the Board wishes to recognize their good work through this
Resolution.
