Pole Building Structural Observation (Project No: 1013-001)
Dear Mr. Rodarmel:
At your request, a representative of Quality Engineering, LLC was onsite on November 2, 2010
to observe and document the pole building at the above referenced address. The purpose of the
review was to determine the structural adequacy of the pole building for Weld County code
enforcement purposes. It is our understanding that the pole building will be utilized for storage.
OBSERVATIONS.INFORMATION,AND UNDERSTANDINGS:
• The pole building is approximately 32' wide by 56' long and 12' high from floor to ceiling.
The pole building was built in 1995 according to Weld County Records.
o Measured dimensions of the pole building are shown on pages 3 and 4 of the Pole Barn
Construction Building Guide available from Weld County(attached).
o There was one 8' wide roll-up door opening at each end of the pole building with double
2x10 headers.
o There was one 18' wide roll-up door opening at the east end of the pole building with a
double 1 3/4"x 11 3/4"Microllam header.
o One of the sidepost footers was dug out to the top of footer elevation at the time of our
observation and measured approximately 38" from grade to top of footer. Footer
dimensions were not visible at the time of our observation.
• Current adopted building code for Larimer County is the 2006 International Building Code.
Building Code requirements and assumptions are as follows:
o Snow Load: 20 PSF
o Wind Speed: 90 MPH(3-sec), Exposure C
o Seismic Category: B
o Min. Frost Depth: 30"
