RE: APPOINTMENT OF THE WELD COUNTY CORONER/MEDICAL EXAMINER
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, in accordance with Section 6-1 of the Weld County Home Rule Charter,
effective January 1, 2003,the County Coroner/Medical Examiner shall be appointed by the Board of
Weld County Commissioners, and
WHEREAS, Dr. Patrick C. Allen, who has served as the Weld County Coroner since
December 16, 2006, has resigned, effective January 1, 2011, and
WHEREAS, the Coroner/Medical Examiner Oversight Committee, on December 6, 2010,
unanimously recommended that Dr. James A. Wilkerson be appointed to replace Dr. Allen.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of Weld County Commissioners
hereby appoints Dr. James A.Wilkerson, as the Weld County Coroner/Medical Examiner, effective
January 1, 2011, until the Board of County Commissioners decides that such appointment shall end.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 20th day of December, A.D., 2010.
