HomeMy WebLinkAbout20103140 THE WELD COUNTY REGIONAL COMMUNICATIONS ADVISORY BOARD TUESDAY, January 26th, 2010, 10:30 AM WELD COUNTY LAW ADMINISTRATION BUILDING The Weld County Regional Communications Advisory Board met in session in on Tuesday, January 26th, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. in the Weld County Law Administration building. ROLL CALL: The meeting was called to order by acting Chairperson Roy Rudisell. Present were board members Gary Barbour, Rod Deroo, Jim Burack, Carl Harvey, Roy Rudisell, Jay McDonald, Ron Grannis, Mark Lawley, Brian Martens, Juan Cruz, Duane McDonald, and Chairman Doug Rademacher joined the meeting in progress. Mike Parkos represented Rick Brandt. Robert Standen, Phil Tiffany and Tim Zimmerman were all excused absences. Staff members present were Mike Savage, Dave Mathis, Julie Walde, Robert Olsen and Susan Johnson. Jerry Garner from Greeley PD and Greg Thompson were also present. MINUTES: Carl Harvey moved to accept the minutes from the November 24, 2009 meeting. Rod Deroo seconded the motion, which carried unanimously. OLD BUSINESS: 1. Staff Report: Dave Mathis presented Dispatch stats for November and December 2009 [refer to Sgt. Mathis' "November and December 2009 WCRCC Monthly Report and Personnel Report as of January 20101. 2. Fire Apparatus Numbering Topic: Dave Mathis reported that the fire board approved moving forward on using the 4-digit apparatus numbering system and doing away with agency names. Go-live for this procedure will be no later than April 2nd , implemented after the EMS CAD module is up and running, to allow the fire dispatchers time to adapt to the changes. • Doug Rademacher added that the Commissioners were fully in support of the apparatus numbering announcement. 3. Emergency Notification System Opt-ins: Intrado's opt-in site is up and working, Dave has tested it with his phone and received text and voice messages. The link will be imbedded in a WCRCC logo and sent to all agencies to be included on local web pages, for citizens to opt in. • Two part street names (e.g. Avenue Court, Street Lane) are a little confusing on the opt in site, using a drop down modifier. • Doug Rademacher and Mike Savage had met to discuss press releases to the local media. Roy Rudisell volunteered to be the WCSO representative for the PR campaign. • Roy Rudisell suggested looking at getting a SHMP grant from the office of preparedness to help pay for brochures and print media. • Gary Barbour announced that the Tri-town area has a joint announcement planned. 4. Board appointments: Mike Savage announced that the commissioners approved board reappointments for Phil Tiffany, Tim Zimmerman and Mark Lawley. Roy Rudisell will be replacing Kim Fleithman and Duane McDonald will be replacing Greg Thompson on the board. 5. Radio infrastructure grant: Mike Savage provided an update on the DOLA grant request for increased radio coverage along the I-25 corridor and in North regions of Weld County. We are asking for $4 million from this grant. Presenters will go to Denver in early February to explain the need in Weld County and are asking for specific incidents of radio problems or oil and gas events which could be used in their presentations. Mark Lawley, Jerry Garner, Doug Rademacher and Monica Mika are all representing Weld County emergency services for the grant. NEW BUSINESS 1. Ft Lupton PSAP: Ron Grannis has been contacted by Qwest to see if they can shut off the Ft Lupton PSAP. His concern was whether shutting it off would prevent them from having an individual PSAP again. Mike Savage will look into the situation and get back with him. 2. Meeting facilities: The Advisory board has outgrown the Law conference room. Staff will locate another conference facility for these meetings.
