Collins, Colorado 80524 Cistern Permit No.: CP99-005 Dear Mr. Rice: In accordance with land use permit USR 1242 and the above listed Weld County Cistern Usage Permit (CUP), a second quarter drinking water sample was obtained June 29, 2010 and a third quarter drinking water sample was obtained July 13, 2010 for 2010's third quarter. The samples collected were subject to the standard bacterial analysis and adequate residual chlorine. Second quarter chlorine residuals were also taken June 2, 2010 and June 3, 2010. Each time the free chlorine residual resulted >2.2 (greater than 2.2) and the total chlorine results were >8.8 (greater than 8.8). No water sample was obtained during either of these visits as the presence of excessive chlorine invalidates the test. On June 29, 2010, a free chlorine residual test was completed with the result within the acceptable range and a bacteriological sample was also taken for Total Coliform/Ecoli qualitative testing to be completed in the Weld County Environmental Health Laboratory. For the third quarter, the chlorine residual results were below acceptable standards. As a reminder, acceptable chlorine residual results for Drinking Water is 0.2 ppm to <2.2 (less than 2.2 ppm). During plant processing, chlorine residual must be taken BEFORE operation to ensure sufficient chlorine is present in the cistern drinking water and the results documented for each day of operation. #PL'353 3/ Rocky Mountain Poultry CP99-005 Page 2 On July 13, 2010, a bacteriological sample for the third quarter was taken for Total Coliform/Ecoli qualitative testing in the Weld County Environmental Health Laboratory. The sample result was PRESENT for Total Coliform. Another sample must be obtained with acceptable chlorine residual and biological test results for the third quarter. Analytical results are enclosed for both second and third quarters. Please contact me to schedule an appointment for bacteriological sampling at (970) 304-6415 extension 2274. I can be reached at this number for any questions or concerns regarding the CUP permit or testing. Collins, Colorado 80524 Cistern Usage Permit No.: CP99-005 Dear Mr. Waddell and Mr. Rice The Environmental Health Services Division of the Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment (WCDPHE) has completed the quarterly inspection of the cistern permitted for the poultry processing facility located at 18920 CR 100, Nunn, Colorado. This Division also collected a water sample on March 8, 2010 from the above mentioned location. The sample collected was subject to the standard bacterial analysis. The analytical results are enclosed. The Division approves use of this cistern. However, this approval is contingent upon the following: 1. In accordance with Weld County Code, Chapter 14, Article Ill "Cistern Water", upon the availability of water from a private well, any community water supply, this permit will not be valid. You must obtain water from that water supply. 2. Owner/Operator must supply a list of free chlorine residual results (performed every day processing is in production). This list is submitted quarterly in compliance with CUP to Weld County Department of Public Health and Environment. Rocky Mountain Poultry Cistern Permit No.: CP99-005 Page 2 3. Owner/Operator must supply quarterly, receipts for potable water purchases, Self service stations are allowed but proof of purchase must still be supplied. 4. Per land permit USR 1242, processing shall not be done without the 5,000 gallon tank being full. 5. Owner/Operator must be able to demonstrate a working knowledge of chlorinator operation and how to determine the rate of chlorine pellets which should be added based on chlorine residual data collected by testing the water. As the rate of chlorine addition directly reflects the chlorine residual concentration of the cistern, and this process must be optimized. At no time should the chlorinator be unplugged as this is in direct violation of this CUP. 6. It is your responsibility to inform this Department in the event of an alternative water supply becoming available for this property. 7. This permit will automatically be renewed each year on this date without a renewal fee or bacteriological testing required. If you have any questions regarding this permit or the bacterial analysis results, please call me at (970) 304-6415 extension 2274.
