RE : ADOPTION OF POLICY REGARDING DISMISSAL OF WELD COUNTY
EMPLOYEES FOR INCLUSION IN THE WELD COUNTY PERSONNEL
MANUAL.
WHEREAS , the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado deem it advisable to adopt the following policy with
regard to dismissal of Weld County employees , and further deem
it advisable to incorporate said policy in the Weld County
Personnel Manual as follows:
Department Heads and Elected Officials may dismiss ,
for cause , any employee within their department. For
cause means for work related reasons for which the
supervisor has deemed dismissal as proper action
for the offense. Included are any offenses against the
employer-employee relationship, inadequate performance
of duties , improper conduct on the job or off the job
that affects the job, or any action that adversely
affects the efficiency of County Government. Any per-
manent employee who is so discharged has the right of
appeal through the following procedures. The dismissed
employee must notify the Personnel Director in writing
within ten working days of dismissal that he/she wishes
to appeal the action. The Personnel Director will
then investigate the circumstances, collect data, and
submit findings to an Appeals Officer. The Appeals
Officer will be an attorney from the County Attorney' s
office designated by the County Attorney on a case by
case basis to insure impartiality. The appeals Officer
will render a written decision within ten working days
to the Personnel Director who will then notify the dis-
missed employee of the decision. If the decision is

unsatisfactory to the employee then he/she may appeal
it to the Personnel Committee through the Personnel
Director. The appeal must be made in writing within
ten days of receipt of the decision of the Appeals
Officer. Probationary, temporary, or seasonal employ-
ees are not entitled to the appeal procedures as out-
lined above.
WHEREAS, upon separation from County service, employees
must return all County property in their possession prior to
receiving their final pay check.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County
Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado that the above and fore-
going policy regarding dismissal of Weld County employees be,
and hereby is adopted as of the date of this Resoluion, and
said policy is directed to be inserted in the Weld County Person-
nel Manual as Page E- 6 and the current policy now reflected on
Page E- 6 of the Weld County Personnel Manual be, and hereby is
revoked.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 6th day of
June A.D. , 1977.
The above and foregoing Resolution was read into the record
and signed on the 8th day of June, A.D. , 1977.
