As the elected officials responsible for emergency service delivery to Fire District residents, the Directors have found that the Fire District can operate with improved cost-efficiency and greater effectiveness under the Fire-Based EMS model. Effective December 1, 2011, North Metro will expand ambulance services into the City of Northglenn. This will end North Metro operating two distinct EMS systems within our Fire District. Adding ambulance transport services to the City of Northglenn is the final step needed in creating a single system, a Fire-Based EMS system, of medical service delivery throughout the Fire District. Through standardizing our EMS system, the entire District benefits through streamlined administrative systems, emergency operations advancements, and the development of robust automatic aid agreements. Our day-to-day operations undoubtedly will be enhanced through increased staffing of cross-trained personnel and resources. In addition with a District-wide, Fire-based EMS system in place, the Fire District's service delivery capabilities would reverse current unavailable options with neighboring fire departments to develop cost-effective regional response capabilities through stronger automatic and mutual aid agreements. These agreements allow resource sharing of similarly trained personnel and equipment while running daily, simultaneous events in neighboring Districts, in addition to effective response for large-scale incidents and disaster-preparedness training. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this upcoming service expansion, please contact me directly at (303) 452-9910. Sincerely, .
