Wastes generated on our site. a. Used oil —We have placed a 500 (five hundred) gallon tank on the northwest corner of our shop. We have a dirt berm all around the tank to contain any spills if something should ever happen. We usually will average no more than 250 (two hundred fi ty) gallons a year that we put in the tank. When it needs to be emptied we contact Raptor Industries, 3201 Belmont Ave., Evans, CO 80620. Phone #970-346-8206. b. Trash —We have a contract with Gallegos Sanitation, 1104 W.Vine, Ft. Collins, CO 80526. Phone# 970-484-5556- They provide us with a large 2Y bin and pickup weekly. 2. Chemicals stored on the site. a. For weed control we will use Roundup and have on site when needed to Spray weeds. 2 % (two and one-half) gallons is needed to spray the needed area. b. A small amount of painting supplies(house paint, spray paint, etc.) b. Windshield washer fluid —One 50 (fifty)gallon bulk barrel — Used to winterize our water tanks for our pothole systems and boring machine when the temperature is below freezing. FROM < MARK VRNTHUYNE FAX NO. : 970 532 7155 Aug. 31 2001 08:53AM P4 3. Oils stored on site. a. Engine oil— One 50 (fifty)gallon bulk barrel. b. Transmission oil — One 50 (fifty) gallon bulk barrel, and a few 5 (five) gallon buckets. c. Turbine oil—One 50 (fifty)gallon bulk barrel. 4. Dry materials stored on site. a. Bagged asphalt patch—One pallet—This is used to patch the highways after we have finished using our core drill to locate existing utilities. b. Hydraul EZ—One pallet—This is mixed with water and used as a bore hole stabilizer. 5. Dust Abatement Plan. Approximately % of our property is landscaped and covered by buildings. We are required by the Development Standards to screen the area around our parking area. The area that is not landscaped is covered with gravel and road base. I don't foresee that we will have a dust problem, but if for some reason it becomes a problem, we would be willing to water our site down when needed. 6. Floor drain. As of now we don't have a floor drain, and don't want to put one in unless we are required to by the Department of Building Inspections. It would be unfortunate to have to damage our concrete floor by cutting into it because it may cause further cracking in other areas. But if we are notified that we have to put one in, we will contact you for the proper procedures. 7. Septic system. Enclosed is a copy of our septic permit, issued by the Health Department. We have had a contractor install the system and have contacted the appropriate offices for final approval. The inspector from the Health Department is scheduled for Tuesday, August 7'", and the designing engineer is scheduled to come before the end of this week. I am hoping that we can get our plumbing contractor to finish his work within that time frame. Frank is our assigned building inspector and he sent Jill our to visit our site. According to her, we cannot get the rough or final inspections for our building permit until the bathroom is installed. We have had the final inspection on the septic system, and have the issued permit. He also signed off on the building permit. The inspector said we could cover up the system and proceed with the installation of the bathroom. If you, or Char Davis, need a copy of this permit, let me know. The only comments that Jill made on things that needed to be done were: a gas test on our propane line, installation of the bathroom along with the appropriate pressure testing, and a letter written by our contractor that installed the water and sewage line. We have delivered the above letter from our contractor to the building inspection department, so that is taken care of. There were no comments about having to install a floor drain on the correction notice, so I am assuming that does not apply to us. If you have any further questions, please let us know. ,Sincerely, \i te,N-9 Phy is Van 'Moyne August 18, 2001 Chris Gathman Weld County Department of Planning Services 1555 N. 17th Avenue Greeley, CO 80631 RE: Mark and Phyllis Van Thuyne USR:1336 Dear Chris, Enclosed is a copy of our landscape plan for the board's approval. I was in the planning office the first part of August and met with Robert, the planner on call, and he said I needed to label all of our landscaping. Everything but the Ameri-willows and the Austrian pine trees are all existing trees and bushes. We spoke to a landscaper in our area, and he suggested that we use Austrian pines instead of the junipers. He said they grow much faster and are less prone to disease or insects. We are hopeful that you will approve this plan due to the fact that we are a very small business just getting started and with the expense of meeting our other obligations for the special use permit, it has become very costly. With three sides of our property actively being farmed directly next to our property line, and with no immediate plans for housing in sight, we are hoping that the board will allow us to plant the smaller trees allowing us to plant twice as many at this time. The only reason we would have to wait until early spring of 2002 for the first plantings is if cold weather sets in early. Having farmed for so many years we know the weather is one thing we cannot predict, so that is why we included early spring in the planting schedule. But we will work at getting things done this fall if the weather holds. We would hate to lose all of our trees due to not having enough growing season left this fall and have to replant next spring anyway. After a couple of years we would be willing to plant more Austrian pine trees in front of the Ameri-willows on the west and north to provide more screening. We hope to hear from you soon. Thank you for your help. Need something that will grow FAST to block out those nosey neighbors? Our Hybrid Willow Tree, called the Ameri- Willow, is very popular for planting around the home or farm as a screen or windbreak. The Ameri-Willow is great for landscaping or garden projects, and they can be used in reforestation plantings! Why? Because this tree grows very fast! Average first year growth is 8 feet, and we have had people tell us they have had up to 15 in the first year! Growth at 14 Months I The Ameri-Willow is a tree that may well be the fastest growing tree in America. There is no doubt that this tree grows fast! They can grow in most types of soil and growing conditions, and as long as they get plenty of water and sun, they will grow fine. The best conditions are a loose soil but even heavy clay or rocky soil types can be fine, but the growth rate will likely be slower. The keys are full sun and plenty of water. They will drop their leaves in the fall like most broadleaf trees, but the mass of stems will block some also. Many people plant either alternating rows of the Ameri-Willow for a thicker screen, or plant a row of slower-growing evergreens to http://www.cdr3.com/willow/ 8/3/01 (-1111611-VY LAWN -1u1161Ilia J 1 1110..11 NM./VV 1161. - -a- - add that solidness during the winter. Do read what others have said, and learn for yourselves. Then try these trees to see why we love the Ameri-Willow! You will be happy with these seedlings, grown in our Oregon nursery, and you might well be amazed. You'll watch these seedlings grow up to eight feet or more in the first year, and even more the following years. Planting conditions do vary, if planted early in the spring, on average - 8 feet is common in the first year. These will live up to 70 or more years, but the growth rate slows down at about age ten. Good for shade trees and landscape use! You can order a single tree seedling, or as many trees and plants as you want from Empire National Nursery, LLC. Plant the Ameri-Willow about five to six feet apart. Or, you can plant two off-set rows at eight to ten feet apart, and you'll have a solid "green wall" in just a couple years! You will receive well-rooted tree seedlings, plus planting instructions, and we can ship these at just about any time of the year, even during the middle of summer! We can help you schedule the shipment, and to book your order in advance is advised. VS. Use the Quick Order Form... Click Here A Few Tree Points to Keep in Mind We prefer to ship our trees when they are dormant during the winter through early spring months, so when they arrive, they may look like "sticks". Then they will come out of dormancy quickly, and grow like crazy. We can ship the Ameri-Willow at almost any time of the year, even while they are actively growing. What we do is trim back some of the young growth and leaves. This reduces the stress on the plant, and although they may wilt for a short time during the shipping, these seedlings will rebound with zeal! It sounds strange, but we use a a time-tested process that http://www.cdr3.com/willow/ 8/3/01 anal-VV ll1V VV -f L11Rd1L.4.3 1 GJLL.JL V1V vying I ILL. produces excellent success. Once your package arrives, you will want to carefully take your Ameri-Willow trees out of the packaging materials and water them, or even soak them in a bucket for a few minutes. Then just get them planted as soon as possible. You can plant the Ameri- Willows as close as four feet apart, or up to ten feet between trees for an effective "green screen" or border. They will grow to about, ten to twelve feet wide, and the Ameri-Willow can be easily trimmed or shaped. By the time your trees arrive, you will have likely prepared the planting area, removing weeds, maybe tilling the ground, or even putting up animal control fencing (if deer or other animals are a problem). We will provide you with tree seedling planting instructions, but it's very easy, so there's no need to worry. Basically, make a hole about 12 inches wide, and 12 to 18 inches deep. You don't need to add anything to your soil unless you have heavy clay or limiting conditions. If you need to, you can mix in some compost, or other soil amendments to break-up the soil, so the planting hole would need to be a little larger. After the trees are planted, water them generously. Make sure they are watered and kept moist, especially as the weather gets hot. If you need to, you can provide temporary shading by attaching a piece of cardboard onto a stake placed on the south side of the tree. Blocking the sun for a few hours during the middle of the day can be very beneficial, especially during the first summer. Until Ameri-Willow seedlings are established, they will need a good drink every couple of days or so (depending on your soil conditions and the weather), then just water as needed. A drip system works great. Excellent-for privacy and security E SlY •i Good for shade trees and V"v landscape use ! http://www.cdr3.com/wilow/ 8/3/01 (uuVai •.uaV vv tu+lViavuJiuJ.vJ. viV vvuiYV 1rV c., Ameri-Willows grow fast, so they will grow best when given plenty of water and some fertilizer. When to fertilize? The tree leaves will start to turn yellow when they don't get enough "to eat". The growth process demands a lot of nitrogen, more than anything else, and although any fertilizer can work fine, consider something like Miracle-Grow or Peter's, and even something like lawn fertilizer that is high in nitrogen. The added nitrogen will help the other soil nutrients to become more available, and also hastens the breakdown of organic material. Make sure they get watered well after you fertilize to reduce the chance of"burning" the feeder roots.
