Register of Historic Properties. The property was officially designated on February 25, 2010 in
recognition of its contribution to the heritage of the State of Colorado. Information of this property

Report of the State Register Review Board Meeting
February 19, 2010
The State Register Review Board met on Friday, February 19, 2010, at the Colorado History Museum in
Denver. The Review Board considered one nomination for State Register designation. The request was
unanimously forwarded with a recommendation for designation to the State Register upon approval
by the Colorado Historical Society Board of Directors.
PROPERTY RECOMMENDED FOR STATE REGISTER DESIGNATION:
Briggsdale Motor Company
200 Main Street,Briggsdale,Weld County (5WL.6227)
The Briggsdale Motor Company is eligible for the
Colorado State Register of Historic Properties un-
der Criterion A in the area of Commerce for its
long and important association with the develop-
ment of automobile sales and service in Briggsdale
Colorado. During the ownership of the Motor d '
Company by J. A. Brooks and Maynard Cass, the
business sold tires and gasoline while providing f
automobile repairs and service. The period of sig-

nificance begins in 1929 with the completion of the z,+A ,
Briggsdale Motor Company building at 200 Main
Street and continues to 1960 when the business
closed. •

Elevator is the only extant grain elevator

Solomon Batterson Ranch
Livermore vicinity, Latimer County
The Solomon Batterson Ranch is
nominated under Criterion A for its
association with the stage lines that
enabled the economic development of the ' ` +
mountain communities west of Livermore ,
during the late nineteenth and earl ' vz 1
early

twentieth centuries. The Solomon

Batterson Ranch stagecoach station was sii, _ t
one of two swing stations for the
Manhattan Stage line during the 1880s and & s
1890s and The Zimmerman Stage line
from 1896 to 1903. The Ranch became one of the most important and best-known stopping points along the
route west of Livermore. The Batterson Ranch Barn remains the best example of a stage station baril.,on the
stage route between Livermore and Rustic. The barn is architecturally significant under Criterion Caa good
example of a locally constructed Midwest Three Portal barn. It is one of the oldest remaining barns in the
Livermore region of Latimer County representing the earliest period of settlement. The period of significance
begins in 1890, the year of the barn's construction, and continues through 1903, the year the Battersons
retired from ranching and tending the stage lines.
