The following is a summary of the facts surrounding our pro- 16ufhPasfor posed Learning Center: Demisa Bumgariner When we initially applied for USR-1492, a school was not in our immediate or Children's Pastor 5 year plan. We received our Certificate of Occupancy in April of this year and Sylvia Sanchez began to operate our church on-site as planned. We have decided to pursue the opportunity and hope to begin this learning center in our current south building. This building was ap- finance proved for far more occupancy than the school will demand. The only real CarmenAlagork change is in the frequency of use, as the classrooms are currently being used twice a week. This building received it's Certificate of Occupancy in April and Church Plaiting is completely up to code. It is my hope that we will be allowed to open the Duane Duran learning center in our south building while an amendment (if necessary) to the USR is pending. Address 1900 AA Sheet The arrangement for our proposed learning center is: the Littleton based Greeley,CO 80631 Hope Co-Op is a statewide Charter school through Vilas School District in Vilas, Colorado. We will in turn receive funding from Hope Co-Op as a local service provider. The school day will run from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm. We expect to have 80 children in grades K-8 enrolled in our Learning Center. Our target start date is September 6, 2005 ( approximately 1.5 weeks from today ). In their comments regarding our original USR, the Eaton school district asked to be kept ap- prised of the situation, should New Hope decide to start a school. On August 23, we met with the school district and a letter summarizing the meeting is attached. 2. In her comments regarding our original USR, Gloria Hice-Ilder of CDOT stated if our campus became a school, a traffic study should be ordered to determine the impact on the US 85/ WCR 66 intersection. We have ordered a traffic study and it should be completed shortly. A preliminary examination of our student base and their residence addresses has determined that the vast majority of the students reside west of 14th Avenue. Only 7 households are east of 14th avenue. This leads our traffic engineer to preliminary conclude that the 85/66 intersection would be minimally impacted. A full report is forthcoming. If I have left anything out, please let me know. I plan on attending the August 29th, 9 am meet- ing if necessary. Dear Bryon, Thank you for meeting with Pastor Angel Flores of the New Hope Church and myself last Friday. We discussed the church's plans to occupy one of the old Con Agra office buildings as a school. Pastor Angel explained that they will use the north half of the building for a full time charter school with up to 100 children, grades 1 through 8. The south half of the building will be religious education rooms (Sunday school),primarily used. on Sundays and some evenings. The two parts of the building would never be occupied at the same time. In fact some of the Sunday school students will also he students of the charter school. School assemblies will be held at the adjacent church building. • The church is already planning to install a fire sprinkler system beginning almost immediately. I need to revise the code study I had done to reflect the sprinkler system. Fire alarm systems will he installed or upgraded and emergency lighting will be installed. We also discussed stair enclosure ratings and corridor ratings. The church will provide two handicap accessible restrooms in the charter school side of the building. These will be made available for the Sunday school users if necessary..We will not plan to remodel any of the other restrooms. Some door swings will also have to be changed as we discussed.. You asked pastor angel to have the IIVAC systems checked for current code compliance. , We discussed putting a limit on the number of occupants in the building at about 200. I will write a separate request for this and submit it to you and to the fire marshal. We decided to meet for a walk-through of the building on Wednesday, august 10`h at 10:00 ' o'clock at the building. I have invited the fire marshal to attend also. The school needs to begin-to enroll students now and to he open by September 6th. They might have started on this project sooner but they just heard about the possibility of gaining the charter school status a few weeks ago. They need to rush this project to get ready for this school year or wait another half-year or full year to begin.
