The Public Work Department sent out fax-bids for fencing contracted services on May 12, 2011. Bids
were sent to three local fencing companies capable and qualified for this type of work. Prior to the
deadline for submittal, two bids were received. The two bids received for the project ranged from
$18,607.40 to $19,996.00 with the lowest bid submitted by Tru Blu LLC from Greeley, Colorado. My
Engineer's Estimate for the work was $17,704.00.
This fencing work is associated with a major road and intersection reconstruction project which the
Department is starting this summer. If approved, the fencing work will proceed in June, 2011. The bid
prices are reasonable and comparable to cost data I have reviewed.
It is my recommendation to award the project to Tru Blu LLC for a total amount of $18,607.40. The
Department has not worked with this contractor in the past, but they have completed similar work for
several years in this area, including work on CDOT transportation projects.
