II WHEREAS, the Congress of the United States of America has designated the week of May 9 0
through May 15, 2011, to be dedicated as National Police Week, and Friday, May 13, as National /
AK )i Peace Officers Memorial Day, and /
WHEREAS, law enforcement officers are the guardians of life and property, the defenders of the r
' individual's right to be free and live under a constitution that allows for these rights to be
exercised, who work tirelessly in the fight against crime and other wrongs to society,and

WHEREAS, it is known that in 2010, every 54 hours, an American Law Enforcement officer died in S - .

the line of duty somewhere in this great country, and during this last year, 161 brave men and fii
women have lost their lives in the performance of their duties. Our community joins with other
o cities,towns, and counties to honor all peace officers everywhere throughout our great nation, and `.
° WHEREAS, it is known that on November 23, 2010, Deputy Samuel Kent Brownlee of the Weld `3
e.o►N i o County Sheriff's Office lost his life in the line of duty protecting the citizens of this county,and ° /'\

o WHEREAS, the Board of Commissioners calls upon all citizens in Weld County to especially honor
i a and show our sincere appreciation for the Peace Officers of this county by deed, remark, and I <
° attitude. We call upon all citizens to make every effort to express their thanks to our officers who ° 1) ..)::-;;;:,,,,( ° make it possible for all of us to leave our homes and family in safety each and every day and to
,mo ►» o return to our homes knowing that we are protected by men and women willing to sacrifice their o iii i (
