MEMORANDUM
TO: Clerk to the Board DATE: April 14, 2011
ElkFROM: Janet Carter, Public Works
COLORADO SUBJECT: Installation of Stop Signs in Carr
Public Works requests approval to install traffic regulatory signs (Stop sign R1-1) at the intersection of CR 126
& 5th and CR 126 & 4th. North bound traffic would be stopped on 5th & 4th as the roadways intersect WCR 126.
The most current traffic count for CR 126 was taken in July 2009 with an AADT of 388. WCR 126 is a paved
road and 4th and 5th are gravel roads. The Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) section 2B.04
suggests that stop signs should be placed at an intersection of a less important road with a main road where
application of the normal right-of-way rule would not be expected to provide reasonable compliance with the
law. Public Works recommends that traffic be stopped on 5th and 4th in the north bound direction.
