Dear Board Members : SUBJECT : Revolving Fund (Petty Cash) : Weld
County Department of Social Services
We are requesting an increase in the amount allowed for the Department's petty
cash fund from a maximum of $500 to a maximum of $800. The present amount is
not sufficient and causes us to replenish the fund too often.
Of the present $500, $300 is provided for three Food Stamp Cashiers so that they
may make change. Two hundred is used in our Business Office to make change and
to provide emergency assistance to clients for Food Stamps, gas, and utilities.
The additional amount is for our Business Office and would be kept separate from
our recently-approved Imprest Fund. This increase of $300 would slightly reduce
the number of payrolls brought to the Commissioners for signature and would save
the Department considerable bookkeeping and messenger time required to replenish
this fund so frequently.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely,
