Dear Sheriff Andrews:
RE: Surplus Radio Distribution
Attached please find a copy of the resolution adopted by the Board
of County Commissioners on September 19, 1979, which directs that

Pursuant to that resolution, the Board requests that five radios

prior to October 15, 1979 in preparation for distribution. Also,
please deliver to the radio shop those radios with serial numbers
BH 5909 and GE 798P, which were formerly assigned to the Coroner's
Office and were obtained by your officers from the radio shop.
Delivery of those two radios is also requested by October 15, 1979.
The Board of County Commissioners appreciates your cooperation and
assistance in this matter.
Sincerely,
Norman Carlson, Chairman

Dear Mr . Reynolds ,
The Fort Lupton Fire Protection District has bought
a station wagon to use as a Command Vehicle for our use
in case of an emergency.
We are planning to install a radio scanner , a radio
to our trucks and base and would like to install a radio
to put us in contact with Weld County Communication.
As per our conversation the other day, we understood
there are radios available for this purpose. We would
install the radio and put it to use if one were available
in the near future. Thank you.
Sincerely yours,

Dear Mr . Reynolds,'
We now have six operational fire vehicles. Two numbers,
two tankers, n rescue truck and , a utility and liett truck .
Of. th se c_i•r, only four have radios. We also have a van
• which we hone to build into an equipment and communications •
unit .
• We now have two hand ield radios which ere used by the
department . If we were to recicve three radios, one would
go in our tanker, one in our utility and light truck and
one in our equipment. and communications Van.
At present if our number two tanker and our utility
and light truck respond to a call they must use t1 e hand
held radios and as you know, it is difficult to transmit
or rf ci.eve. on a hrund held while the truck is responding to
a call .
If you have any other questions, you can call Chief
Howard Kendrick at home 28t+-796h or business +'9F-2100 .
Thank you for your consideration.

SUBJECT: SURPLUS RADIOS
The Milliken Fire Protection District, station #1,
located in the Town of Milliken, presently has
six vehicles in operation. Only three of these
units have radios in them.
The department has only one pack set; it is used
in conjunction with the rescue equipment truck,
which leaves two units that could use radios .
One unit is a 1955 GMC, 750 GPM pumper, the other
unit is a 1964 Chev. Equipment Truck.
Thank you.
Yours truly,
Jerry Kilgore

Sir;
I am making a request for any radio equipment you
may have available.
We have six pieces of Fire Equipment at this time.
We do not have any mobile radios or portable radios
at this time. We just received three IlinEtor pagers
from Motorola today.
We have been approved for he County Fire Frequency,
and would like to get mobile radios so we can be in
touch with the dispatchers at Greeley.

Dear Sir,
It is my understanding that effective this date , there will be two-
way radios made avialable to the rural fire departments based on the "need. "
The following is a list of fire apparatus and it's use, thus will serve as
_justification for my request for t:le available radio's.
APPARATUS USAGE
TRUCK #1 Resnonds on all fire alarms or am- alarm re-
Duiring an auxiliary electrical system. Is
available for mutual aid.
TRUCK #2 This is used as a transport unit For personnel
as well as a Squad Truck during the winter
months. Is available for mutual aid.
Station Wagon This is used by the Duty Officer on weekends,
as well as a means of transporting manpower
to alarms , or equipment to alarms.
ENGINE #3 This is a back-up pumper to our front line
pumpers. It responds to 2nd alarms and is
available for mutual--aid.
The above apnaratus would require one radio each. In additon to the
above, I'd like to request two radio's, to be used by the Greeley Fire
Department for mutual-aid with the neighboring rural fire departmentS
Thankyou for your consideration and the above apparatus is available
for your inspection.
Sincerely,
William N. Bailey
Fire Chief
P.S. Please note that this department responded to #280 alarms in 1973,
