RE: INSTALLATION OF "STOP" AND STOP AHEAD" SIGNS ON COUNTY ROAD
66 AT COUNTY ROAD 53.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Department of Engineering Services
has recommended to the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that "stop" and "stop ahead" traffice devices
be installed on County Road 66 at the intersection with County
Road 53 to insure safety to the traveling public, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has studied the
recommendations of the Department of Engineering Services and the
Colorado State Patrol and has determined that said signs are nec-
essary for the protection of the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Com-
missioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the Department of
Engineering is directed to install "stop" and "stop ahead" signs
on County Road 66 at the intersection with County Road 53 for the
safety of the general public, and that said signs must conform to
the State manual and specifications .
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 17th day of
May, A.D. , 1978 .

to the restricted sight distance for compact and sub-
compact automobiles , the Engineering Department would
recommend that stop signs be installed as per attached
plan .

NATURE OF REPORT
SUBJECT: Request for Stop Sims rt junctions of C.P.. 66 rud C.R. 53.
IACTS: At approximately 3:40 p.m. on April 26 , 1973, there was a
. school bus accident at the intersection of C.R. 66 and C.R. 53 I
' in which six children and the bus driver were hurt. This i
particular intersection has three blind, corners.. It is a
gravel road and extremely hazardous for vehicles travelling f
in any direction. It is my recommendation that stop signs
'be placed to control traffic travelling east and west on
C.R. 66. According to people living in the area those
two roads are heavily travelled.
• CONCLUSION: The stop signs could prevent any further accidents such l
as the one stated above.
This intersection is also• on the regular route for. school. ,
• buses. '
