On September 22 , 1976 the Weld County Commissioners approved
a Special Use Permit for Amoco ' s proposed enlargement of
its Spindle Gas Processing Plant. This approval was granted
subject to development standards , one of which provided
that the noise emission levels should not be increased .
We wish to advise that the plant enlargement has been completed
and that appropriate noise abatement measures were insti-
tuted .
To verify our compliance with the noise abatement standard,
we requested a noise level survey be conducted by Engineering
Dynamics , Inc . This survey, a copy of which is attached
for your information, confirms that Amoco has complied with
the noise abatement standard specified in the Special Use
Permit granted by the Commissioners .

Dear Mr. Shirley,
On the morning of February 18, 1978, sound level measures
were made near the home 'of Mr. Gittlein, south of the Spindle
Compressor Plant. These readings were used for comparison with
earlier measurements made at the same site, to determine whether
noise control efforts at the plant were effective.
Measurements were made in 1975 as a baseline . In the summer
of 1976, further measurements were made in order to predict the
additional noise generation caused by an increase in the number
C. of compressors . The baseline levels were found to be 53 dB (A) ,
and were predicted to increase to 55 dB (A) at the Gittlein home.
Measurements made subsequently confirmed this prediction . The
planning objectives agreed to with the county was that the levels
not be increased in the surrounding community. Noise control
measures were institutedby your company and have been completed
recently. Our measurements on this date show that the level is
now less than 50 dB (A) ; lower than that observed prior to plant
expansion.
If any future plant expansion to the plant were to occur ,
say, on the north side, it is highly unlikely that sound levels
in excess of 50 dB (A) would be experienced at the Gittlein home.
We conclude that the noise control efforts were successful and
that the planning objectives have been met .
