RE: Proposed Special Review Permit Number USR-1776
Dear Commissioners:
Our property is located just adjacent to the proposed site of the USR-1776 tower. However, we
arc an example of the poor communication to the public of this proposed plan. We did not
become aware of the signage until Monday, May 9, 2011, when we just by chance drove on the
unmaintained County Road 98. At the time we were actually appalled by the fact that a sign
would be posted at this location, as this mainly is an untraveled road, even by those who live
near. In any case, the meeting had already passed, on May 3, 2011. We immediately looked on
the Weld County Planning Commission website to get more information. Something as
impactful as this should not have been so hard to find out about.
It is our position that the site of the telecommunications tower is not protective of the visual
environment of the County.
The purpose of Article 4, Division 9 of the Weld County Zoning Code is to:
`...accommodate the increasing wireless communication needs of County residents, businesses and
visitors while protecting the public health, safety, general welfare and visual environment of the
County...
Although the road near the proposed site is not well traveled, it certainly is not"remote" [as the
applicant has asserted] and there arc at least 10 residences within a mile that would be impacted by
the proposed tower. We already have a 647 foot tower within one mile of our residence, along with
numerous high-line electrical towers. We also have had to deal with proposed Uranium Mining, a
"Superslab" Highway and a proposed reservoir. Our property values do not need to take another hit, aO11 " c

especially since,the proposed tower would not"accommodate the increasing wireless
communication needs of County residents", since the purpose of the tower is to provide cell phone
service to residents of Larimer County, not Weld County.
Weld County is a"right to farm" community and many of us have moved here as a result. We
live for the open space, rolling wheat fields, Colorado blue skies and unobstructed views. We
didn't move here to be smacked in the face with yet another"big business venture" that intrudes
on all we hold dear.
If this tower is allowed, really, where will it stop, and what will be next?
