This bridge is currently load posted, yet heavily used by local truck traffic. WCR 68 is a vital paved link between SH 392 and many oiUgas production facilities, and agricultural facilities in eastern Weld County. Traffic counts in 2008 show an average daily traffic of 1,447 vehicles per day. Replacement of this bridge is our#2 priority for this bridge funds application period. The bridge is 32' wide, 94' long(three spans), and was built in 1957. It is structurally deficient, and has a sufficiency rating of 51.1 reported by LONCO on 5/5/10. The bridge has major problems with cracked and spalling concrete, and exposed rusting rebar. The bridge rail and approach guardrails are in poor condition and do not meet current AASHTO/CDOT standards. The asphalt surfacing on the deck is in poor shape with extensive cracking, rutting, and improper drainage. Weld County believes this bridge is in need of replacement because of its structural incapacity, poor driving surface condition, and safety concerns. The bridge is beyond the point where rehabilitation work would be cost effective because of the monolithic concrete construction. Rehabilitation could not address the current floodplain requirements nor meet most of the current bridge design standards.
