FROM: Janet Carter, Public Works COLORADO SUBJECT: Installation of Stop Signs at CR 4 & 17 Public Works requests approval to install traffic regulatory signs (Stop sign R1-1) at the intersection of CR 4 and 17. East and West bound traffic would be stopped on WCR 4 as the roadway intersects WCR 17. The most current traffic count for CR 17 was taken in August 2006 with an AADT of 68. The most current traffic count for CR 4 was taken in August 2006 with an AADT of 42. The Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) section 2B.06 suggests that stop signs should be placed at Intersection where a restricted view exists that requires road users to stop in order to adequately observe conflicting traffic on the through street or highway. There is a sight distance issue at this location due to vegetation adjacent to the roadway. Public Works recommends that traffic be stopped on WCR 4 in the east and west bound direction due to the sight distance issue.
