Traffic counts on WCR 13 between WCR 68.5 and Timnath City Limits was performed in April 2010, the Average Annual Daily Traffic (AADT) was 662 and the 85th percentile of speed was 45 mph. The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) recommends posting the speed limit within 5 mph of the 85 percentile speed limit (Section 2B-13). Other factors such as road characteristics, roadside development, accident records, and shoulder conditions may be considered when establishing speed limits. WCR 13 is a treated gravel road and is classified as an arterial road. Research into the recent accident records showed one property damage only accident on this segment of roadway in the past 4 years. Based on this information; Public Works recommends that the speed limit on WCR 13 between WCR 68.5 and Timnath City Limits should be reduced to 45 mph.
