Dear Members of the Board:
It was just recently brought to my attention of a movement among the members
of the Weld County building association to have Joe Jarvis and Bob Huffman
removed from their jobs in the Weld County Building Inspection Department.
If a person is to lose his or her job for following proper procedures, rules
and regulations then by all means we probably should let these two men go.
However, I believe this is not the criteria for dismissing employees. I
have had in the last couple of years some experience with the Weld County
Building Inspection Department and have found them in my subdivision,
Gilbaugh's Appaloosa Acres, to be extremely fair and helpful but firm in
doing their job properly. I think of one case in particular in which the
building contractor's framers errored in the placement of the roof on the
front stoop. Had it not been for Mr. Huffman' s alertness, knowledge and
ability to check out the problem and how to correct it I would have been
left with a $70,000 home with a real detracting appearance.
I have found both men to be extremely willing to discuss and try to find
a solution to a problem. I just do not believe that we can terminate an
individual just because he follows rules and regulations that are set out
for him.
I would without any reservation recommend the services of these two be
continued. Thank you for your favorable consideration in this matter.
