CACI President and CEO May 10, 2011 The Honorable Sean Conway Weld County Commissioner 915 Tenth Street P.O. Box 758 Greeley CO 80632 Dear Commissioner Conway, The Executive Committee of the Colorado Association of Commerce and Industry(CACI)has voted to join the many public officials, local chambers of commerce and other organizations to express support for the Northern Integrated Supply Project (NISP). An adequate supply of water is essential for the economy, sustainable growth and quality of life of residents of Northern Colorado, and the NISP will provide this supply as well as being a major economic development opportunity for Northern Colorado, infusing approximately $450 million from the project's participants. NISP is essential to the preservation of the agricultural economy of Northern Colorado, and the evidence shows that without NISP,more than 30,000 acre-feet of farmland would likely dry up. Additionally,NISP will capture and store up to hundreds of thousands of acre-feet of water currently leaving the state over and above its legal requirements. Finally, CACI's Executive Committee was impressed with the fact that Club 20 is supporting NISP. CACI is a state-wide organization, and our current board chair and several other board members are West Slope residents and run West Slope businesses. CACI is pleased to express its support for the NISP as essential to the long term economic success of Northern Colorado.
