Re: City of Greeley Transport Ambulance Study
Dear Weld County Board of Commissioners:
Thank you for your letter of July 11`h concerning our on-going study of ambulance
transport services. The Greeley City Council clearly understands the importance and challenges
associated with preparing the annual budget. We further appreciate the difficulty you all are
facing in preparing the 2012 budget in light of the potential changes to ambulance transport
services. In this regard and in acknowledgement of our mutual commitment over the years to
partnering with Weld County in providing critical life support services, this letter will affirm the
City of Greeley's intent to continue with the current partnership through the 2012 fiscal year.
Upon receipt of your letter, the City of Greeley Public Safety Committee, also took time
to reflect on the impacts this study is having on all involved. We agree with your statement that
evaluating existing services is a prudent step to take and we appreciate the empathy that you
express from your past experience in this regard. That being said, it seems apparent to us that
there could be improvements made into how this study is being handled. Specifically, it has
always been our intention to review the options once developed with the Weld County
Commission. Perhaps, it would be a more constructive model if the Weld County Commission
was more involved in the initial portions of the study and data gathering effort similar to how we

partnered to improve the dispatch operations last year. Therefore, we are requesting that a Weld
County Commissioner be assigned to work with the Greeley City Council Public Safety
Committee as we complete this study which would include participating in the interviews
of the submittals to our request for proposals from private sector transporters.
