RE: APPROVE INSTALLATION OF TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES ON COUNTY ROAD 36 AT
COUNTY ROAD 31
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS,the Weld County Department of Public Works has recommended to the Board
that Stop signs be installed on County Road 36 at County Road 31,to ensure safety to the traveling
public, and
WHEREAS,the Board has determined that said traffic control devices are necessary for the
protection of the general public.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Department of Public Works be, and hereby is, directed to install Stop
signs on County Road 36 at County Road 31, for the safety of the general public, and said signs
shall conform to the State Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 18th day of April, A.D., 2011.

COLORADO SUBJECT: Installation of Stop Signs at CR 31 & 36
Public Works requests approval to install traffic regulatory signs (Stop sign R1-1) at the intersection of CR 31
and 31. East and West bound traffic would be stopped on WCR 36 as the roadway intersects WCR 31.
The most current traffic count for CR 31 was taken in September 2010 with an AADT of 91. The most current
traffic count for CR 36 was taken in March 2008 with an AADT of 120. The Manual of Uniform Traffic Control
Devices (MUTCD) section 26.06 suggests that stop signs should be placed at Intersection where a restricted
view exists that requires road users to stop in order to adequately observe conflicting traffic on the through
street or highway. There are sight distance issues at this location due to rolling hills and structures adjacent to
the roadway. Public Works recommends that traffic be stopped on WCR 36 in the east and west bound
direction due to sight distance issues.
