RE: APPROVE CONDUCTING MAIL BALLOT ELECTION FOR WELD COUNTY TO BE HELD
AS PART OF THE COORDINATED ELECTION ON NOVEMBER 1, 2011
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, political subdivisions of the State of Colorado, including counties, are authorized
to conduct certain elections in accordance with the Mail Ballot Election Act, and
WHEREAS, Steve Moreno, Weld County Clerk and Recorded intends to present a plan to
the Colorado Secretary of State to conduct a Mail Ballot Election, and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 1-7.5-104, C.R.S., it is the option of the governing board of
any political subdivision to determine if an election, which is otherwise eligible, shall be by mail
ballot, and
WHEREAS, Mr. Moreno estimates that conduct of the Coordinated Election to be held on
November 1, 2011, by mail ballot will result in a substantial savings to the taxpayers of Weld County.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Weld County election to be held as part of the Coordinated Election on
November 1, 2011, shall be conducted in accordance with the Mail Ballot Election Act and the
regulations of the Secretary of State promulgated thereunder.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 11th day of May, A.D., 2011.
