RE: AUTHORIZE WELD COUNTY TREASURER TO EXECUTE ASSIGNMENTS OF
COUNTY HELD TAX LIENS LESS THAN $10,000 IN VALUE SOLD FOR THE FULL
VALUE OF TAXES, INTEREST AND FEES DUE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, Weld County holds over 1,000 tax liens less than $10,000 in value that
have been stricken off to the County by virtue of their not being purchased at tax sale by
investors, and
WHEREAS, the Weld County Treasurer receives numerous requests to purchase said
County held tax liens upon payment of the full value of the taxes, interest and fees due, and
WHEREAS, to effectuate such sales of tax liens, the Board must assign the tax liens to
the purchasers, pursuant to C.R.S. Section 39-11-122, and
WHEREAS, the Board now desires to authorize the Treasurer to execute assignments
of tax liens less than $10,000 in value that have been stricken off to the County by virtue of their
not being purchased at tax sale by investors, upon payment of the full value of the taxes,
interest and fees due.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of
Weld County, Colorado, that the Weld County Treasurer be, and hereby is, authorized to
execute assignments of tax liens less than $10,000 in value that have been stricken off to the
County by virtue of their not being purchased at tax sale by investors, upon payment of the full
value of the taxes, interest and fees due.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners that the Board
will continue to execute assignments of tax liens $10,001 of value or greater that have been
stricken off to the County by virtue of their not being purchased at tax sale by investors, upon
payment of the full value of the taxes, interest and fees due.
