RE: APPROVE REQUEST FOR AUTOMATIC RENEWAL OF INTERGOVERNMENTAL
AGREEMENT FOR JOINT SCHOOL RESOURCE OFFICER PROGRAM-WELD COUNTY
SCHOOL DISTRICT RE-3J
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, the Board has been presented with a Request to Automatically Renew the
Intergovernmental Agreement for a Joint School Resource Officer Program between the County of
Weld, State of Colorado, by and through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on
behalf of the Sheriff's Office, and Weld County School District RE-3J, commencing January 1,2011,
and ending December 31, 2012, with further terms and conditions being as stated in said letter of
request, and
WHEREAS, after review, the Board deems it advisable to approve the request to
automatically renew said intergovernmental agreement, a copy of which is attached hereto and
incorporated herein by reference.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado,that the Request to Automatically Renew the Intergovernmental Agreement for a
Joint School Resource Officer Program between the County of Weld, State of Colorado, by and
through the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, on behalf of the Sheriff's Office, and
Weld County School District RE-3J be, and hereby is, approved.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 7th day of November, A.D., 2011, nunc pro tunc January 1, 2011.

RE: Law Enforcement Service Agreement extension for Weld County School
District RE-3(J)
Commissioners:
The 2010 Law Enforcement Service Agreement with the Weld County School District RE-
3(J) can be renewed automatically through December 31,2012 with your approval. The
agreement requires the School District to pay $61,761.00 for a maximum of 1,211 hours of
School Resource Officer services to be provided in 173 days or less.
The school district has requested an extension of the 2010 Agreement.
The Sheriff's Office recommends the extension of this agreement through December 21,
2012. The charge for service is based on the previously approved cost recovery hourly rate
of$ 51.00 per hour.

Dear Commander Caldwell;
This letter is to notify you that the Weld County School District Re-3J intends to continue with the
current agreement between the Weld County Sheriffs office and the district for the services of the
School Resource Officer through December 31,2012.
We understand that the 2010 Law Enforcement Service Agreement can be renewed automatically
through December 31,2012 upon receipt of this letter. We also understand that this agreement may be
terminated without cause by either the Weld County Sheriffs Office or the Weld County School District
Re-3J upon 30 days'written notice. The agreement requires the school district to pay$61,761.00 for
1,204 to 1,211 hours of School Resource Officer services to be provided by the Sheriffs Office in 172 or
173 days.
