Weld County Board of Commissioners

Greeley, CO 80632
Subject: Potential Land Exchange
Dear Weld County Commissioners:
Please accept this letter as confirmation of our discussion on October 27th regarding the City
of Greeley's interest in acquiring property along the Poudre River to provide mitigation for the
effects of certain water projects the City currently has underway. The County's property at 59th
Avenue and the Poudre River has been identified as a potential site for such mitigation.
At the same time, the City recently received notification that the County is investigating
' potential routes for an extension of CR49, east of Greeley. One potential route passes directly
through a property owned by the City which is called the Dill Farm. The City purchased the
jj property many years ago for eventual use by the wastewater system. To have a new County Road
0 bisect the property would diminish the usefulness and value of the property significantly.

Considering that the City has an interest in the County's 59th Avenue property and that at least
one alignment of CR49 would require much of the City's Dill Farm, we suggest that a land exchange
be considered as a component of meeting our mutual needs. If this is of interest to you, please
contact Roy Otto at 350-9750 to facilitate a meeting of our respective staff further to discuss details.
Sincerely,n y 1 A /
Tom Norton, Mayor
