A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF PLATTEVILLE SUPPORTING COLORAtOO
HOUSE BILL 11-1082 RELATED TO THE VEHICLE INSPECTION PROGRAMS
APPLICABLE TO SURROUNDING WELD COUNTY COMMUNITIES
WHEREAS, the Platteville Town Board is vested with the authority to promote the general
welfare of the community; and
WHEREAS, the State of Colorado adopted certain amendments to regulations which require
portions of Larimer and Weld Counties, to be included in a Vehicle Emission Inspection
Program as part of a strategy to reduce ozone omissions along the Colorado Front Range; and
WHEREAS, air quality readings at designated Weld County locations indicate that Weld
County indicated an annual decrease in the 4th Maximum, 8-hour Average parts per million
(ppm) ozone value, such that the three-year average in 2009 was at .071 ppm, which is below the
.075 ppm requirement set forth in the State Implementation Plan(SIP); and
WHEREAS, based upon evidence that Platteville currently complies with the required air
quality standard the Town of Platteville Board of Trustees formally expressed its objection to
inclusion in the State Plan; and
WHEREAS, over such objection, Weld County has been included in the State Implementation
Plan and Vehicle Emission Inspection Program; and
WHEREAS; current legislation known as HB 11-1082 has been introduced that would provide
relief to Weld County from participation in the required Vehicle Emission Inspection Program
based upon sustained achievement of air quality standards.
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THE PLATTEVILLE BOARD OF TRUSTEES
supports the adoption of HB 11-1082 pertaining to the inclusion of the subject portions of Weld
County in the Vehicle Emission Inspection program.
