Each year there are $1,800 dollars per county in the NCRETAC funds for Injury Prevention Fund projects. Historically these funds have been utilized cooperatively with North Colorado Medical Center, (NCMC) Trauma Services applying for them. Programs such as Drive Smart, Safe Kids and the Prevention of Alcohol Related Tragedy in Youth, (P.A.R.T.Y) are just a few of the programs that utilize these funds throughout the year. I was made aware that this year's funds had not been applied for were available. I had our employee who represents Weld County Paramedic Services at each of these programs present an initial application to the RETAC Coordinator for review. Without our knowing it was approved and the funds release and sent to us as shown in the attachment. I am requesting the support of the BOCC for these funds to be accepted as represented on the attached paperwork. The funds will be utilized as shown in the paperwork and provide the benefit to all of the organizations mentioned above. I was asked to present this information for pass around approval or as an item for future BOCC agenda and approval. Weld County Paramedic Services participation in various events throughout the year such as: Ambulance Demonstrations, Career Fairs in coordination with the local S_ chool Districts and - -- Colleges and Safety Fairs with local stors t ehroughout Weld County Surveys and educational material are left with the participating partners listed above so that teachers and attendees can have a tool to measure the impact and what the kids retain, along with their impression of the event. Additional Notes; (Please provide any other information you would like to have considered in the grant review). Weld County Paramedics covers 4,004 square miles, serving over 20 communities. The ambulance demonstrations and safety events are a great community outreach. This service has a very unique opportunity to go from just the "show and tell"atmosphere,to hands on education and demonstration with the ability to link the attendees to the importance of the topic being presented. When the children/students and along with other attendees have materials that are tangible reminders to take home with them, including materials that reference what they were exposed to, they are more likely to retain the information and model the behavior in to their everyday life. _Ho_w willyour project publically identify how the Northeast Colorado _ RETAC was as a recognized program designed to help promote injury prevention activities? All events where NCRETAC funded materials are used, the NCRETAC logo will be proudly displayed and will be part of the design layout on all materials. This will clearly demonstrate Weld County Paramedic Services gratitude in the establishment of this program,as well as the long term commitment that will enrich our community contacts through our partnering with Northeast Colorado RETAC. 3JPage Hello
