RE: EXPRESSION OF SUPPORT FOR CONGRESSIONAL REDISTRICTING PLAN THAT
KEEPS WELD COUNTY WHOLE
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County, Colorado, pursuant to
Colorado statute and the Weld County Home Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of
administering the affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS,at a recent public hearing on redistricting, both the Weld County Republican and
Democratic Chairpersons testified that Weld County should not be divided in the upcoming
Congressional redistricting, and
WHEREAS, Weld County is the largest Agricultural producing County in the State of
Colorado, and eighth largest nationally, which makes it a community of interest that should not be
divided among Congressional Districts, and
WHEREAS, Weld County is also a community of interest because it is home-rule, and
WHEREAS,the Board supports any Congressional redistricting plan in which Weld County is
kept whole.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Commissioners of Weld
County, Colorado, that the Board hereby supports any Congressional redistricting plan that keeps
Weld County whole and not divided among Congressional Districts.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made and seconded, adopted by
the following vote on the 23rd day of March, A.D., 2011.
