t t CenturyLink' November 25, 2011 Dear County Commissioners, I am pleased to announce that CenturyLink, one of the nation's leading Internet service providers, is introducing CenturyLink Internet Basics to improve and promote broadband adoption and use by low-income consumers in Colorado. This program is designed to bridge the digital divide and provide assistance to families in our region that need help getting online. To help meet the goal of enabling more low-income households to use the internet, CenturyLink is offering discounted High-Speed Internet service starting at $9.95 a month, plus applicable taxes and fees, to eligible consumers in our local service area. The service provides access up to 1.5 Mbps downstream capability. Higher bandwidth services, where available, are offered at a comparable discount. CenturyLink also is offering program participants an Internet-ready netbook computer for$150,plus taxes, shipping and handling. The new equipment includes access to CenturyLink@EaseTM, a comprehensive suite of backup, security and support services. In addition, CenturyLink is arranging a basic computer education and a technology training program through partnerships with community groups and other state and local organizations in more than 100 markets throughout the country. Participation in CenturyLink Internet Basics is open to consumers who qualify for the Low-Income Telephone Assistance program. I have included in this mailing, a copy of a CenturyLink Internet Basics brochure detailing specifics of the program, along with general information about CenturyLink. For more information about CenturyLink Internet Basics, please call 1-866-541-3330 or visit http://www.centurylink.com/internetbasics. Please feel free to share this information with your county agencies or nonprofits that work with these low- income consumers. The Internet Basics information is available electronically as well if that would be helpful. Just let me know, and I can send it to you electronically. If I can be of further help, please contact me by phone at 303-992-5846 or by e-mail at edie.ortega@centurylink.com.
