State Engineer
Colorado Division of Water Resources
1313 Sherman Street, Room 821
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Mr. Wolfe;
As you know, the Town of Gilcrest is experiencing difficulties in the operation of our Wastewater
Treatment facility. These difficulties have been created by groundwater that has no historical precedent.
With assistance from your permitting section, we have been able to construct a temporary solution which
we hope will stem the problem in the short-term.
As we are a small community, our fiscal resources are quite limited. The short-term solution will require
approximately $21,000 to construct and it is unknown what the electrical utility costs will be to run the
pumps necessary to expel the water to the South Platte River. Our ability to hire engineering assistance
is non-existent. Therefore, we hope to work with you and your staff in reviewing this situation and to
determine a long-term solution.
To this end, we would like to meet with you and your staff to discuss how best to address our concerns.
We would like to meet prior to the end of the year in order to understand what and how you might be
able to assist.
Thank you for your attention to this request and we look forward to working with you in the future.
Sincerely,
Linda Martin
