Re: Letter of Support from Weld County(CO) Board of Commissioners for the Town of Windsor's
Application for a grant from the US DOT's National Infrastructure Investments (TIGER 2012) Program
for Great Western Railway.
Dear Mr. Secretary:
The Board of Weld County Commissioners would like to express its support of the Town of Windsor's
application for the TIGER 2012 Grant. Funds from this grant will be used for the Great Western Railway
Application and are essential for opening the northern Colorado area to additional economic development.
The scope of this project,which will rehabilitate the line segment of rail between Windsor and Greeley thereby
restoring rail service between the two towns and, by doing so, connect the area to the national rail network,
falls directly in-line with Weld County's economic development plan and long-range transportation plan.
Weld County's strategic plan includes supporting initiatives to develop and maintain an effective transportation
system as well as promote a healthy economy through business development and economic diversification.The
Great Western Railway project supports those initiatives and will allow Weld County to continue to build a
competitive business climate regionally, nationally and internationally.
The Board of Weld County Commissioners appreciate your consideration of awarding this grant to the Town
of Windsor for the Great Western Railway project. Such an award would not only strengthen the local business
economy but also ensure this area's competitiveness for years to come.
