Box 459 Greeley, CO 80631 Sir: As you know, we have been negotiating with Mr. Chet Hays for the possible purchase of a strip of land in Country Acres which was to be used for drainage control and a park. We had requested and received a commitment for Conservation Trust Fund money from Weld County for the purchase of this land. We have just recently been notified that Mr. Hays intends to annex the rest of the land adjoining Country Acres--including that land which we had intended to purchase. Under our ordinance ten per cent of all land annexed must be donated to the town for park development. As a result, our Board of Trustees met and voted not to purchase any land in the area and to release the unused funds prom- ised to us by the County Commissioners. We do have a bill concerning the proposed purchase that we feel is eligible for payment from county funds, and a copy of this is enclosed. We request reimbursement from our previous commitment for the $200. 00, but we release the balance of $5,300. 00 which we hope can be disbursed to other communities who have a need for it. We do appreciate very much the Commissioners ' efforts in our behalf, but to continue our plans for purchase of a park in Country Acres Addition could only be considered a waste of these funds.
