RE: AUTHORIZE WELD COUNTY CONTRIBUTION FOR ISLAND GROVE PARK
CAPITAL IMPROVEMENTS.
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners of Weld County,
Colorado, pursuant to Colorado statute and the Weld County Home
Rule Charter, is vested with the authority of administering the
affairs of Weld County, Colorado, and
WHEREAS, in 1977 , Weld County appropriated monies for capital
improvements at Island Grove Park to restore the facilities
damaged in the fire of 1977, and
WHEREAS, it has now been requested by the Greeley Independence
Stampede that Weld County authorize the expenditure of $10, 000. 00
for capital improvements at Island Grove Park as follows:
$6, 000. 00 for electrical work and $4, 000. 00 for painting and number-
ing bleacher seats, and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners deems it advisable
and in the best interest of Weld County, Colorado to authorize
said expenditure.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of County Com-
missioners of Weld County, Colorado, that the expenditure of $10, 000 . 00
for capital improvements ($6, 000. 00 for electrical work and
$4 , 000. 00 for painting and numbering bleacher seats) , at Island
Grove Park, be and hereby is, approved.
The above and foregoing Resolution was, on motion duly made
and seconded, adopted by the following vote on the 12th day of
June, A.D. , 1978.

Dear Guy:
This letter is to record understandings reached between you, the County
Commissioners, and me at the regular Commissioner meeting June 12, 1978,
regarding contributions from Weld County to the Stampede arena expenses r
during the 1978 season. The Commissioners agreed to forward $10,000 of
the $39,500 appropriated for this year, to be spent by the Stampede Com-
mittee on lighting and other electrical installation for the new areana
being used this summer. You and I agreed that the Stampede Committee
would initiate this work, determine the total expense required and then
request reimbursement from the County for that expense. This procedure
will make it entirely clear that the County' s contribution is not a sub-
sidy to the Stampede Committee but an investment in the arena for specific
purposes. r
Thank you for your cooperation. This procedure can likely be used for the
remainder of the $39,500.
