We are writing in regards to case #USR12-0030 which is a request for a roust-a-bout and excavating
service business to be approved for the property directly west of our home. We are very much opposed
to this because they are currently using it as a business, storing large tanks and oil/gas equipment. There
are large trucks and people coming and going daily working in a large metal building. We have witnessed
gunshots being fired at large bales of straw that are used as a harrier between the home and a gas well
being drilled. We saw the bullets hitting the ground near the well when they travelled through the bales.
We believe this was one of the workers because we saw a vehicle leave when we walked onto our back
porch trying to determine who was shooting. They have a large security light that shines directly into our
bedroom window.
We purchased this home in February to be in the country to enjoy the peace and quiet and be able to
retire here within the next 10 years. Having a business next door that stores large oil and gas tanks,
heavy equipment, and large trucks with workers coming and going is not what we expected. Had we
known we would not have bought this property. Having this type of business next door will have a very
negative impact on our property value. We are requesting that this business not be allowed. This is an
agricultural area and should remain this way.
