SUBJECT: LIQUEFIED NATURAL GAS (LNG) Tandem Truck
Tractor—PW Pavement Management#61200138—QTY

The Public Works Department received two bids for this vehicle and recommends awarding the LNG
Tandem Truck Tractor to MHC Kenworth in the amount of $212,987.00. The low bid from Rush Truck
Center of Greeley did not meet the vehicle specifications. The bid required an LNG tank capacity of 120
diesel gallon equivalent (DGE). This conversion makes the maximum total LNG on board the vehicle be
approximately 200 gallons. Rush Trucks proposed a single 120 gallon LNG tank, which only makes the
DGE approximately 60 gallons. MHC Kenworth met this requirement by proposing 2 LNG tanks and
therefore, we recommend awarding the bid to MHC Kenworth. The UFR CMAQ funds will not be enough
to cover the entire cost of the vehicle. Therefore, the County would have to match an additional
