Ed Dunbar, Chairman
Board of Weld County Commissioners
P.O. Box 758
Greeley, Colorado 80631
Dear Chairman and Commissioners :
Please find enclosed grant applications for three
projects in the Town of Windsor, Colorado . Windsor , as
I am sure you are aware, is a rapidly growing community
with expanding needs in the area of open space and
recreation.
We appreciate the Weld County Commissioners making
available their trust fund monies to local communities .
Having received a grant last year we can see in our own
community the worthwhile accomplishments of this fund.
Without your assistance Windsor would not have beautiful
new trees and a sprinkling system around our Depot Museum
and Municipal Pool .
We ask once again for your favorable consideration
and financial assistance. If you need any further infor-
mation, feel free to contact us .
Sincerely,
TOWN OF WINDSOR

GRANT APPLICATION
PROJECT TITLE - Landscaping of Boardwalk Park
DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT - The landscaping of Boardwalk Park
which is located on Fifth Street between Ash and Birch
Streets. The project would entail the planting of twelve
( 12) trees of multiple varieties along with approximately
thirty ( 30) shrubs . Our community Forester and Tree Board
members have reviewed the plans and feel that a 2 to 3 inch
tree is needed in order to assure survival . Types of trees
to be used are Maple, Linden, Ash, Birch and Evergreen.
The objective of this project is to give shade and beauty
to our new park, along with replentishing the needed variety
of trees in the area.
WHY THIS PROJECT IS NEEDED - Boardwalk Park is located on
the west side of Windsor Lake. The Town Municipal Pool
and the new Depot Museum which houses our Chamber of Com-
merce are encompassed by the Park. We hope to create a
complete leisure facility on these grounds. Without trees
to shade and shrubs to beautify the park this project would
be incomplete. Therefore additional trees and shrubs will
only enhance the use of the area.
COST - Twelve 2" to 3" diameter trees at $80.00 to $120.00
per tree.
Approximately thirty 5 gallon container shrubs at
$10. 00 to $15. 00 per shrub.
TOTAL $1 , 700.00
Cost to Town 850. 00
Cost to County 850. 00
TOTAL $1 ,700. 00

PROJECT TITLE - Phase II of Sprinkling System at Board-
walk Park.
DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT - This project will entail the
extention of our new sprinkling system at Boardwalk
Park which is located on Fifth Street between Ash and
Birch Streets. The amount of land to be included in
this project is approximately 1 . 5 acres. This will
complete Phase II of a three phase project on Board-
walk Park.
WHY THIS PROJECT IS NEEDED - Last year Weld County Con-
servation Trust Fund gave Windsor the opportunity to
initiate development of Boardwalk Park. Phase II of
this project will bring Boardwalk Park even closer to
completion .
This park is needed in this area because of its high
volume use, our Community Pool and new Depot Museum
are located within the boundaries of the park. Windsor
Lake also borders Boardwalk Park on the east .
Sprinkling systems are the first step for development of
any new park. Therefore this project is vital to the
completion of Boardwalk Park.
COST - Sprinkling System - P.V.C. plastic pipe , electric
wiring, valves and sprinkling heads.
TOTAL 7, 000. 00
Cost to Town -. 3, 500

PROJECT TITLE - Backstops for Practice Fields .
DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT - This project would be part of our
new Municipal Ball Park Complex. The Town intends to grade
and level two of the three fields for use next summer for
practice. The two backstops will be chain link, thirty
(30) feet in height , twenty (20) feet wide with ten ( 10)
foot extenders. The equipment will be a permanent part
of our new Ball Park Complex.
The location of this project is east of "0" Street in the
town limits of Windsor on approximately eighteen ( 18) acres
of land.
WHY THIS PROJECT IS NEEDED - At this time the Town has full
time use of only two softball fields. Our summer schedule
of activities has these fields used to their maximum. Last
summer our Recreation Program had a nine team adult softball

With a yearly growth rate of approximately 8%, the Town will
need additional facilities as soon as possible to keep up
with the growth of our community .

each. Total $1 ,900. 00 .
