Dear Sir:
In reference to a letter from the late Mr. Dunbar of Nov. 1, 1978,
to Mayor Doland Unruh and Council Members, pertaining to the allocation
of Conservation "rust Funds. As stated in the letter, the town of New
Raymer was allocated $450.00 for a picnic shelter.
I was appointed to get the three bids as requested. The members
of the town council and other residents of the town will do the :'ctual
construction work as a community service. I asked three lumber yards
in Fort Morgan the approximate prices of material to build a 10' by
20' shelter. They itemized the material as the enclosed sheets show.
As you will notice, two of my bids or estimates were in Oct.
and the one from Meads was January 17, 1979. In October, I got the
two estimates and Meads only gave me a total--not itemized. After
the last council meeting, I was F;iven the letter from Mr. Dunbar, so
I got the itemized estimate from Meads. The constant raise in prices
of most materials would probably be some different than the October
estimates.
I guess I really should have drawn a blue print of exactly what
we wanted and then got the itemized materials from each place. I
talked this over with a carpenter here in town who will help on the
construction and he felt we could shop some at each place of business
and come up with a very nice shelter. We liked the lumber prices on
Mead's and Ried's, but liked the tin roof on the O'Neill estimate. The
carpenter said maybe we could put a tin roof on and still stay within
the limits of our request.
The council feels the resident are well quplified to do the work.
One man has done extensive carpenter work and several others have done
work more complicated that what we will require.
Our project is a 10' by 20' shelter to accomodate 2 or 3 tables.
It will have a gabled roof with a 10 to 12 inch eave. The posts will
be set in concrate. This year we will have a gravel base. Maybe we can
put in concrete for a floor at a later date.
Please contact me if you have any unanswered requirements.
Surely, ,
i 2-
