FROM: Janet Carter E.I., Public Works SUBJECT: Speed Limits on WCR 70 between WCR 51 & 53 Public Works requests a resolution from the BOCC directing Public Works to install traffic regulatory signs (Speed Limit R2-1) on WCR 70 between WCR 51 and WCR 53. The most recent traffic count was taken in May 2012 the AADT was 66 vpd with 39% trucks and an 85th percentile of 46 mph. The Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) recommends posting the speed limit within 5 mph of the 85 percentile speed limit (Section 2B-13). Other factors such as road characteristics, roadside development, accident records, and shoulder conditions may be considered when establishing speed limits. WCR 70 has a recently approved a water loading facility that utilizes a large amount of tuck traffic the citizens present recommended a speed limit of 30mph. WCR 70 is a gravel road and is classified as a local road. During the review into the recent accident records it was determined that for the years of 2008-2010 there were no accidents on this segment. Based on this information; Public Works recommends that the speed limit on WCR 70 between WCR 51 and WCR 53 should be 45 mph. 2012-2408 Page- 1 -of 1 September 6,2012 C:\Documents and Settings\dheffel\Local Settings\Temporary Internet Files\Content.Outlook\I0CUBJNQ\BOCC 090612 SL.DOC Hello
