HomeMy WebLinkAbout20120892.tiff 1861 MEMORANDUM EL TO: Board of County Commissioners UNT Y DATE: April 16, 2012 FROM: Elizabeth Relford, Transportation Planner SUBJECT: Bid Request No. B1200062 — 1 Ton 4x4 Crew Cab CNG Bi-fuel (turnkey) pickup QTY - 1 On March 28, 2012, Weld County received one bid for CDOT Project Number 18924.15.01 for the purchase four CNG bi-fuel "turnkey" one ton 4x4 crew cab compressed natural gas (CNG) pickup on behalf of the LaSalle Fire District. Weld County received $775,456 in CMAQ funding through the North Front Range MPO for CNG fleet vehicle conversions. The LaSalle Fire District partnered with Weld County on this project (see letter of support) and will provide their 17.21% local match for this vehicle, which is estimated at $8,335. A mandatory pre-bid meeting was held on March 14, 2012 and bids were submitted on March 28`". Weld County received two bids. The bid from Spradley Barr Ford Lincoln was in the amount of $47,283, but did not meet vehicle specifications. Weld County Garage submitted a bid in the amount of $48,428.29 and met specifications. Public Works is recommending the bid be awarded to Weld County Garage in the amount of$48,428.29. The LaSalle Fire Protection District supports using CMAQ grant funds to further Weld County's Smart Energy Plan which promotes the use of Natural Gas as"the" alternative transportation fuel. We recognize that Weld County will be in charge of the bid process that the LaSalle Fire Protection District will join for the purchase of the above vehicle. The LaSalle Fire Protection District also has the funds available and acknowledge the fact that we are responsible for 17.21 % of the final bid price of the vehicle and any overbid costs that we may add to the vehicle.
